"At last, a lesbian bar that is laid back, cool and friendly" Time Out

Flyers

Lounge started in 2001 - inspired by Sex and the City and bourne out of a necessity for somewhere a little more sophisticated to socialise.

We hunted high and low for a venue that would host us. Afterall, back in 2001 venues didn't believe that gay women socialised, spent money, had friends. You get the picture. Finally we found 23 Romily Street - they gave us a small room right in the rafters. It was a small and intimate gathering, but the crowd were different.

Eventually, we outgrew Romily Street and managed to bag the Crescent Bar in Leicester Square. This basement bar was only open until midnight and we didn't have a DJ. Just great drinks and gorgeous women. It wasn't until Easter Bank Holiday 2002 that things started to go crazy. No one could have predicted the absolute mayhem on the door, and so Lounge really had arrived.

Since then, Lounge went from strength to strength, eventually moving to Teatro - the private members bar on Shaftesbury Avenue - with queues right up the street. They decided to change and so we decided to leave. We finally settled on The Penthouse in Leicester Square.

Since Lounge was born, we've tried to keep things a cut above. Lounge has certainly changed and evolved with the times, reflecting the changes in lesbian culture along the way. We always strive to offer a great experience in socialising.

Lounge - the original night of sophisticated tomfoolery for metrosexual women.
